Detailed Multi-Source Research
Our research process examines publicly available football sources across each country. Depending on the market and the available evidence, this can include official club websites, supporter-association pages, active supporter social-media accounts, local and national news coverage, supporter directories, league information and other relevant public football sources.
How AI Is Used
Artificial intelligence helps us search more broadly, organise large amounts of information, compare names and club relationships, identify possible duplicates and surface supporter groups that may otherwise be difficult to discover. AI is a research assistant in this process; it does not automatically decide which groups appear in a poll.
Manual Review Before Inclusion
Potential entries are reviewed for a clear connection to a football club, evidence that the supporter community is real, and sufficient public information to distinguish it from unrelated pages or duplicate names. Where recent activity can be identified, it is used as supporting evidence. National-team-only supporter groups are not part of the country club-supporter ballots.
Evidence Can Differ by Country
Supporter culture is documented very differently around the world. Some groups have official club or association pages; others are primarily visible through active social-media communities or local football reporting. For that reason, the same type of source is not available in every country. Internal evidence categories help us manage research quality, but they are not presented as club endorsements on the public ballot.
Ongoing Updates
The database is not treated as permanently finished. New groups may be added when stronger evidence is found, duplicate or inactive entries may be corrected, and community submissions can be reviewed. The objective is a broad, transparent and regularly improved international directory of real club supporter groups without inventing entries to reach a target number.
